Home, Sweet Home!

Happy Monday! You know what this day means - a brand new challenge at Simon Says Stamp! This week our theme is HOME, SWEET HOME! Interpret it however you will, but be sure to share with us, because you could win a $50 voucher from Simon!

I found a house shaped block of wood in my stash and decided to have some fun altering it with bright tropical colors! I loved playing with the papers, stamps, paints and found objects to make this.

I started out by using the wood as the template to cut out the patterned paper - Crate Paper's Oasis, and cut and distressed a piece of corrugated cardboard to use as the roof. Once I had my pieces cut, I had fun stamping a variety of images onto the sheets, and since my house is full (of maybe I should say stuffed) of books, I added a few bookish sayings.
Remember, you never have to use a full stamp, you can choose just part of it to use like I did here with several images.

After I adhered the papers to the wood, I went around the edges with Dina Wakley's Media tape to help finish it off.

Oh, yes, I like these blues for the roof - ocean on the bottom and turquoise dabbed on top.

Next step, I painted some areas in with pink and blue.

I wanted to create a white wash in some areas, so I mixed the white paint with some clear gesso to create this effect. Usually, I cut the paint with water, but this worked really well!

I found some old Prima resin frames in my stash, so added a bit of patterned paper behind it and then attached it to the house.

I'll share a number of views of the house so you can see each side. In addition to the window, I inked a ruler piece and added it to the base.

The rest of the ruler is on the back, along with some resin roses tinted with ink, and a wood plant I found in my stash.

My little house makes me happy! I have to make more of these to add to this one, maybe in different sizes and shapes. I hope I have inspired you to join our Home Sweet Home challenge this week, I can't wait to see what you make!

Party Time!

Are you ready to party? It's party time for two weeks at Simon's Monday challenge! I made a party banner and favor, which could be used for a Christmas party, a celebration of winter, a sledding and hot cocoa party, or just a fun get together. Join us in the party and make something to share!

(Photo heavy post)

Party Favor

I just love this Crate Paper Snow and Cocoa line! I inked around the edges with High Dive and cut a strip of blue and layered patterned paper onto it.

I cut small strips of paper and wrapped each chocolate, then put them into a cellophane bag which I attached to the paper strip.

Make a fun topper for the candy, and voila - you have a fun and easy party favor!

Banner

I had a hard time getting a photo of the banner in its entirety, so I will be sharing each piece so you can see the details.

I started out by making my banner bases out of cardboard. I measured and cut each piece. I know there are also die cuts you can use to make a banner.

As you can see, I used a lot of embellishments to pretty up each part of the banner. Somehow as I work, my workspace gets smaller and smaller - does that happen to you?

Here you can see the before and after bling...

Now, for each letter in CELEBRATE...

Isn't this such a fun line for a party?

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate!
Happy Winter Solstice!
Happy Winter!

So, come on over and join the party! I can't wait to see what you share!

How about the chance to win a $50 voucher from Simon? Just join in the fun on the Monday challenge.

Let There Be Snow!

Hello Monday! We have a brand new challenge for you this week at Simon Says Stamp! We are all about the snow this week, and I have been inspired by the snowstorms we have had already this year - maybe it will be a snow covered Christmas!

I have found a new favorite company - Wild Rose Studio! This adorable snow family stamp and papers are from their line, and work so perfectly for this theme.

I made a few more Christmas cards by stamping the image, then watercoloring it with my Peerless watercolors. I also used my new Fuse tool to add the Fuseable Ruffles to a couple of the cards, and then some pretty bling from 28 Lilac Lane.

Enjoy!

The MISTI works great to get a nice clean image. Love my Ranger Archival Jet Black ink to use with watercolors!

Do you have a favorite? Let me know!

I must say, I have had a LOT of fun working outside of my usual color palette and images! So, now it's time for you to get out your mittens and boots and crafty stuff and make a project that let's it snow! I can't wait to see what you come up with!!

Simon offers a $50 voucher to one lucky participant, could be you!
