Add A Rainbow of Color

Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  Wedding/Anniversary  Challenge and we hope you will all join us again thisweek too.

Please join me in welcoming the talented Ann Chuang as our June guest designer. Welcome back Ann!

This week we are spotlighting the colorful, wonky products of Dylusions, aka Dyan Reaveley. She definitely has a unique style, and always plays well with color.

This week the challenge is: ADD A RAINBOW OF COLOR

Some of my favorite Dylusions products are the line of art journals. I reach for these all the time. I have a few stencils, some paint, and some older stamps, so I pulled out what I had to use. I decided to do a "paper doll" sketch of myself, inspired by Ryan's fun people stamps.

I began with the Brush stroke stencil and pink and orange paint.

While the paint dried, I sketch a painterly version of myself, and stamped some paint brushes. I colored these with Tombow markers and used a water brush to blend. Then, I fussy cut them to use on the page.

I took an images from Simple Stories paper, stamped color theory on the label, and added some drippy paint.

I stamped and colored a tea cup from Ryan's Fancy a Cuppa stamp set, then made it colorful. Now, I have a place to put my brushes.

I sketched myself in bibs, as I used to wear them all the time. I added splats of paint over my clothes, because I do get messy. Well...not usually this messy!

Simon Says: Add Some Text

Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  Think Pink  Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is:  ADD SOME TEXT

Text is both a wonderful layering tool and a focal point. I've layered text into my background and foreground on my art journal page. This is the perfect season for adventures!

I began my spread with some patterned papers.

Next, I added some text stamping.

I went over the pages with translucent white paint (watered down white would also work). I splashed some watercolor over that with a lovely shade of rust.

Next step is placing the images onto the page. I tore some and fussy cut others. I also reached into my stash for some embossed leaves

I am liking how this is layering up!

Mushrooms are a favorite motif of mine lately...

After sleeping on this, I decided to add a bit more text...

SAY YES TO ADVENTURE!!

Think Pink!

Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  TREES Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

Please join me in welcoming our guest artist this month - the very talented Alison Bomber!  Welcome back Alison!

\\We are spotlighting the colorful and quirky creativity of Dyan Reabvey and Dylusions this week.  Be sure to check out her wonderful array of products!

This week the challenge is: THINK PINK - Breast Cancer Awareness

I was inspired by the bright, colorful work of Dyan Reavely, as well as her quirky approach, to create my art journal page. I've tucked in a note of remembrance to women in my life who have had breast cancer. Some have lost the fight, and some are still working to overcome their cancer.

This is a disease that affects so many women that we know, including my Mom who passed away quite a few years ago. Friends and colleagues have been affected. It is so important to self check and get a yearly mammogram. Please take care of yourself!

For many years, I worked with my teachers union to organize a breast cancer walk in our little town.

First step was stamping the background text. Next, I stenciled with pink paint over it I decided The pink did not show up well enough, so mixed it with white gouache, and stenciled again.

I went over my page with Green Gold watercolor. The paint acts as a resist, and I just did a quick wipe over the stenciled area to clean it up.

Then I decided the pink did't stand out enough, so went back with the stencil and a pink acrylic marker, to go over some of the design.

I had a little envelope from Simon, so ink smooshed it with pink, then stenciled over it with the same.

I hand lettered on the envelope, and added some hand painted paper to the flap. I fussy cut two flowers from the hand painted papers.

I tucked a little not inside in memory of family and friends...

I felt I needed to pop the flowers, so sent around them with white paint.

Final finishing touch was to draw scribbly lines around the page to frame it. Oops, I forgot, I also added white splatter.
