Space Adventures!

 

 

 Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  STAMP IT/STAMPTEMBER Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is: TRANSPORT IT

Do you ever dream of exploring space? Finding new worlds? Do you love Sci Fi...books, movies, stories? Well, you may be like our intrepid heroine heading out on her rocket to explore the universe... 

I wanted to create a background that looked rusty for this spread. On the left, I tried swiping the ink on, then blending with water...not my fave. 

So, on the left, I blended each ink on with a brush, then splattered water drops on and lifted them. Much better. The other side even improved. 

Details of the background 

I have found this trio of inks makes a great rusty looking background - Simon Says Stamp Ocean, Terracotta, and Tim Holtz Ground Espresso inks. When they are blended and splattered with water, I think it turns out just right. 

The Stamperia page was scrumptious as is, but I wanted my background to show, so ripped off the corner. 

Next was placing the die cuts where I wanted them. 

I would get in this rocket to explore space,,,would you? 

This one reminds me both of tThe Little Prince, and Avatar's hanging mountains. 

And here is our intrepid explorer, ready to head out!

 Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  THINGS WITH WINGS  Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is:  TAG IT

I've made a couple of birthday tags for my sons' birthdays. 

 They are such gentlemen, so these Tim Holtz gents are perfect. I tried to add in one of their interests with what I had on hand - coffee for one, and collecting in nature for the other. They have so many interests, many of them focused on the outdoors.

I began by stamping old letter writing on the tags to build a background. I love this stamp for adding background interest!

Next, I blended several paint colors over the tag. 

I added some copper metallic paste and laid out my dies and tiny tags. I went for dies I had already cut and had on hand. I have to do more of this because it makes easy when creating to just reach for the dies. 

 I added a coffee cup and some gears on one tag. ..

 and added a tiny tag with happy birthday, and a label with filed and the year.

On the other tag, I added an insect, and collect label. along with some gears. 

A couple of tiny tags with happy birthday and the year finishes this one off. 

Two gents are tagged for their birthdays!

Spritz and Splatter

 

 Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  Bright and Cheerful  Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is: SPRITZ AND SPLATTER

Who doesn't enjoy a good spritzing? or splattering? I channelled Spring with my colors and design. 

Why not make a tag for Valentine's Day? Or a birthday or anniversary? If you can't get out to pick up real flowers, here is the next best thing.

LOVE YOU TAG

I selected a mix of sprays to work with on my tag. 

 

I sprayed through the stencil with three colors and splattered on the Fuchsia. I used too much orange and it went under the stencil, leaving blobs that I wasn't happy with.  

I laid paper over the stencil with the spray on it, and printed a reverse image. I cut and ripped that to go over part of the tag.

Figuring out how I wanted to lay everything out... 

I stamped Love You and colored butterflies to add. I popped those up.  

I wanted to echo the stenciled colors in the flowers, so went with yellow, orange and pink. I used watercolor for the flowers and butterflies. 

I tied off the tag with hand dyed ribbon. Final step was to splatter some gold gouache with the splatter brush.
