This week the challenge is: SOMETHING NEW!

I'm using a new Paper Artsy mushroom stamp set and my new Tim Holtz Distress Spritzes for my ATC's.  

Happy New Year! 

I thought it would be fun to create ATC's to share with others. I wanted a message focused on nature, as one of my intentions this year is to get outside and enjoy the wild. 

Mushrooms are symbols of good fortune, prosperity and longevity in many cultures, so I thought they were a great symbol for the new year...besides the fact, I just love mushrooms!

I began by collaging tissue paper onto a piece of watercolor paper. I am starting with one large piece that I will cut into ATC's later in the process.  

I added texture with the Simon grid stencil and texture paste. Once that dried, I added acrylic paint... 

Next up was to add some shimmer with the Distr4ess Spritzes. 

Once everything dried again, I cut the large sheet into ATC sized pieces.  

 Meanwhile, I stamped mushrooms , words and numbers, then added watercolor to the mushrooms. I fussy cut these.

After layering the images and popping some, I added some gold splatter.

This week the challenge is: ADD METAL

Just add some metal to your make this week, a charm, a metallic sheen, foil, whatever you like!  

Summer is winding down, but the insects have still been singing at night, which inspired my insect themed ATCs. 

I stamped a sheet of images from the Field Notes stamp and cut out to fit my ATC. I also stamped some toadstools and fussy cut then to add.

I spritzed Vintage Rust over them.

Next, I added white splatter. I do tend to get carried away with this step, lol!

I layered on my Funky Insects, sentiments, and my metal bugs. I rubbed gold gouache over the metal to coordinate with the gold on the die cut.

 Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  ART JOURNAL  Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is: FUN WITH ATC'S

Artist Trading Cards are so fun to make! You can create a little story ofr design in a very small space. I went with a simple design this week, as I've spent the last week visiting my eye specialists in NYC. I thought a girl theme appropriate after my sister visit last week too.  

 

I used a base card from 3 Quarter Design, added a swirly die cut, paper dolls and ephemera. I added white splatter, and in retrospect, I think I should have done the splatter before the girls, since they look like they've been painting up a storm.
