My husband recently asked me to make him some thank you cards, so I wanted to come up with a masculine design, but lets me play also.
Broke open my new Blueprint stamp set "Vintage Things" and thought the typewriter image would evoke a message that would work to say thank you. I was looking at Tim Holtz's blog and saw his post on making a patina background, so wanted to try it out myself. I did not have everything, but knew I could experiment.
I started with the background using Distress Inks and water, then Distress Paints on top of that. Since I did not have the Metallic Paint, I thought why not try the metallic ink instead?
Much more interesting! I even added some other ink colors to create the patina I wanted.
Here's a mistake I made with the stamping....
...and here is how I fixed it. I just stamped the image and layered it on top. I added a bit of white pen to make it pop.
Done! I must say, I do love this background, and all the new blueprint stamps...can't wait to play some more!
Great idea - I love the Blueprint stamps. Must get some. A very successful play date with those cards!
