Tick Tock goes the clock, and I feel lately like I have been working against time...too much to do, too little time. School has shifted into high gear along with other things, which is why I have not had much up lately. So, I guess this is the perfect challenge. I was lucky enough to be able to go away for a weekend crop, and I finally finished the album I have been working on for several years, in memory of our mom. It has definitely been a journey back in time, and I've chosen a couple of pages to share and will enter into the challenge here.
It is fascinating to find out about your parents lives before family, and I have always loved the stories about mom going to NYC for nursing school, and then on to serve in WW2 as an Army nurse.
I came across this poem about WW2 veterans written in my Mom's handwriting, which was the perfect complement to the photos of her.
Here is another sampling of pages. As I worked through photos of mom's life in the different decades, I tried to match papers and embellishments to those years, for example, I remember when I was little, Mom only wore dresses, no matter whether she was going out, cleaning, or gardening. It was a lot of fun to work with the old photos and reminisce.
Tick, Tock...a journey back in time...
This post and this one shared some of the other pages I did in this album.
It is always interesting how things in our lives connect, because today as I sat down to work on this post, I was checking a few things on the web, and found this...
Yep, the bright one in the middle - that's my art journal pages for "time machine", which was chosen in the Top 3 over at the steampunk challenges here.
Time works in mysterious ways!
Beautiful album pages and such a special tribute to your mom. Wonderful photos and what a great story. Thank you so much for sharing with us at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog!!
ReplyDeleteGreat layout, Maura. The papers and embellishments add just the right touch. ~ Laura
ReplyDeleteYes, it sometimes makes me wonder too how timestrings get connected and if things happen accidentally or by some secret schedule, Maura.
ReplyDeleteLove that "bright one in the middle" and your finished album looks just wonderful!
