Simon Says Anything Goes!

Well, hello Monday!  That means it is time for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! Anything Goes is the "magic" word, so I decided to head to my art journal and work on some creative magic! Join us in the fun this week, which is super easy, because it is "anything goes"! Can't wait to see what you create.

I 'd painted a few pages in my art journal with black gesso, and added the fairy image awhile back, and they sat for a long time. I just wasn't sure what I wanted to do with them. So, with the opportunity to do anything for this challenge, time to work on this and add some magic to the pages!

I added some crackle texture to the background and sprinkled in some henna mica and rock candy glitter. I learned that the clear crackle doesn't show up as well on the dark background as when I have used it on lighter paper, so I added in some paints.  Oh well, live and learn!

I love my Finnabair stamps and this was a great project to pull them out for. I stamped images on watercolor paper, played with color ( pulled out my Gelatos which I hadn't used in a long time) and lettering, and just had fun with this. The pages were looking rather dark, so time to bring in some bright color elements for contrast, it needed a pop of color!

Trust the magic! I love to read, and am mostly a fiction reader. One of my favorite genres is fantasy. I think it evolved out of my reading fairy tales and mythology when I was a kid. So, how fun is it to create a fantasy page! Oh yeah!

Stamping images with white ink adds a nice element. I doodled with white around the fairy image and lost myself in the scene.

I am looking forward to seeing your creative magic this week!

Time to craft and and join us in the fun!  A random winner is chosen every week to win a $50 spending spree from SimonSaysStamp!

  5. This is a fantastic project showing how black gesso can really be a stunner! I like how you worked the piece so well so that it's not dark-evil, but is dark-enchanting (if that makes any sense at all). You lightened up the black and made me think of a magical forest at night. Super clever!

  12. Maura...very cool art journal pages! I thank you our ride in the black background is harder to work on. But I really like how you experimented and didn't give up and kept working until you created such a beautiful pages. The bright colors are standing against a black background. Isn't it fun to rediscover gelatos and things that you have left in the drawer for too long? I also love Finnabair'sstamps! Very different images but love them!
