Seahorse Treasure Tin

The challenge this week is to use three colors of ink, paint, or another color medium of the same kind. From distress ink to gelatos, acrylic paint to watercolor pencils – you can pick the medium and the trio! I have no doubt some great color combinations will be shared, and new inspiration found. Check out all of the great design team projects at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!

I love color!! Sometimes I like it bright, and other times I like it more vintage. My trio of colors I reach for time and again? Green, purple and blue! Paint, ink, watercolors, you name it, I just love working with this trio.

So, summer is ending, but there is still time to go to the ocean! If you can't, then you can always make a little seahorse treasure tin.

I all started with an Altoid's tin...

Painted it black with Distress ink...

Waited for it to dry, so I could add the "pretty colors"...

I must say that Twisted Citron brings in a whole new green element! I'd made some cards awhile back with the Nautical Blueprint stamps and had some extras, so I deconstructed them and cut out the images. Hey, you can always reuse or repurpose your creations if you find you are not using them.

Added some tulle netting, seashells, beach glass, pearl, and then some seahorse words of wisdom to the back of the tin. I wonder what other treasures my seahorse will find to put in here?

I hope you all have a grand finish to your summer, get to the beach and search for treasure, and find some time to join us in this week's trio of color challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
Time to get crafty and and join us in the fun!  A random winner is chosen every week to win a  generous $50 spending spree from SimonSaysStamp!

  8. Ohhhhh! What a lucky Altoid tin to be transformed to such an incredible work of art! I love how you blended the colors and went with an aquatic theme. It's so inspiring and makes me want to find the nearest beach! I'm realizing that I don't include purple in my color palettes not nearly enough, but pieces like this make me want to try harder because it is STUNNING!

  10. Stunning project Maura! Love the colours. A friend of mine got me a whole bunch of Altoid tins from the US (we don't get them here). I altered some of the several years ago, I better do it soon again.
