Moon Dreaming

Hello Monday! It's a new week and a new challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, and this week we are looking for a ray of sunshine, and showcasing Dina Wakley products. How fun is that? After a long winter, we are looking forward to summer!

The full moon has been shining here while I've been working on this, and has me dreaming of a moon garden.

I've had this idea in my head for awhile and it started when I looked through my Dina Wakley stamps and stencils. I could just picture these working together, and I really like how they did..."Moonglow Garden".

I used an 8x10 canvas board, and had fun with texture paste and mixing up some colors to play with.

Working on the garden, all the stamping is done with Dina's heavy body acrylic paints. If I needed it thinner, I just mixed in some water. I prepped the board with DW's Clear Gesso, and that is one cool product! I used it with later layers too.

Even after I painted some clouds in the sky, I wanted more texture, and pulled out Dina's Mosaic Swirl stencil and some Blueprint Distress ink. Oh, yes, I am liking that!

While the paint on the board dried, I worked on my moon faces...texture paste and paint on heavy watercolor paper. Yep, as you can see, I am a messy crafter...things just seem to pile up as I work!

Added my sun, sketched a bit around the sun rays with a graphite pencil, some washi tape, words, and some paint splatters. Next, some shine with the Viva Inka Gold, because I really wanted my sun to glow, and the moon flowers to reflect that. So now I can put my little canvas in my "studio" and start to think of spring!

If you have any Dina Wakley products, pull them out to play for this challenge, and if not, use what you have. Most important is to play creatively, and I hope you will join us in the fun.

As always, one lucky player will win a generous $50 voucher from Simon Says Stamp!

  1. Such a creative idea using the moon face stamps as flowers. I'm always interested in your process, seeing how you build up layers. I'm currently layers-challenged -- I tend more toward clean and simple, but like the look of all the layers, too. Happy Monday.

  8. A moon garden! I always love how fantastical your mind is and how you create these fabulously poetic things. I was a nerdy English major and appreciate phrases or words that strike a chord for my imagination and you do that all the time! Even that phrase "moon garden" makes me want to be there and makes me want to know the whole story behind what a moon garden would be. You truly do feed both the eyes and the soul with your work!
