It's Hard to Resist Ranger!

Hello Monday! Hope everyone is off to a great week!

This week we are all about Ranger products, especially resists, and I just love mine! I reach for them time and again! Use your resist this week, if you have Ranger resists share those with us, if not, use what you have!

Resist Technique: use of the incompatibility of two mediums to create layered effects with color and texture.

Let's give a warm welcome to Beulah Bee who is our guest designer this month! Check out her awesome blog here

My son said this looks like Easter colors, and since I was working on this just before Easter, it makes sense to me why I chose them. I also have been heading for the lovely, bright colors lately in the hope of spring really arriving!

I started out with a large tag, coated it with Dina Wakley heavy body white acrylic paint, then used transparent texture paste, all Ranger products!

This project seemed like the perfect one to try some techniques with my new Distress Crayons (another Ranger product! Do you see how I love them?!!) I rubbed the different colors into the tag using my fingers. My original idea was that the stenciled area would resist and show up in white, but...my resist, resisted my idea so to speak...so, go with the flow! I took out some sand paper and went over it to get some more of the white to show. I like how it turned out - guess you could call it a happy mistake.

I used my Simon Says Stamp wafer die and cut my word in white and black, and layered them just a bit off to create this shadow effect.

I found an old pack of Heidi Swapp resist ephemera and colored these bits and pieces by using my distress crayons like watercolors - rubbing a bit on my craft mat, and picking it up with my water brush.

I decided to staple them together into layered embellishments.

I made these little felt inchies a long time ago and the colors were perfect for my tag. Simon's felt would be wonderful for these!  The flowers are made using hand dyed ribbons that I roll tightly into a coil. A bit of blanket stitch around the edges, some glitz, and these little flowers are done.

It is so much fun to create! I hope you will join us this week and create something using a resist technique! Have a creative week!
