Hello Monday, glad to see you again my friends! This week at Simon Says Stamp our challenge is to Layer it Up. Come join us in the fun!
I was thinking of layers both physically and mentally - layers of images and papers, and layers of a story. As I was working on my card, the story of The Littles, children's books by John Peterson, came to mind. So off I veered in a different direction than I had planned, to create this scene of the brownstone and people, and make it look tiny by adding in the flowers and birds.
I began by stamping this cool Tread stamp by Nathalie Kahlbach onto my card with the Walnut Stain Distress Oxide, then spritzing it.
Next, I layered in both types of Distress ink.
I stamped my images using the MISTI to get crisp images, and colored them with the Distress Oxides and water. Cool beans! Cut everything out and started to lay out my scene.
I am loving the new Tim Holtz Paper Dolls - no more fussy cutting!! It's great that they come in a variety of sizes. I am also using the Botanical layers and Quote Chips, then blinging it up a bit with 28 Lilac Lane's Tropical Twist and Diamond Glaze.
I couldn't resist adding this little cutie, with wings, to the post box! Touches of red bring out some detail, and then I went around the images with my water soluble pencil and water brush to add some shadow and depth.
My vision was to make this look like a tiny building with little people, hidden in a garden - what do you think?
...layers of images, layers of stories....
I hope you've enjoyed my interpretation of Layer it Up, and are ready to create your own project to share, I am looking forward to it!
