Red, White and Blue!

It's Monday, and welcome friends to a new challenge for the week! We are celebrating the Red, White and Blue this week and also showcasing Sizzix! For those of you celebrating the Fourth of July, I hope you have a wonderful day. My childhood memories are of fireworks, waving flags, parades, and making homemade ice cream, using strawberries from our garden. I also remember making desserts that looked like a flag, using rows of blueberries and strawberries and some whipped cream - yum! Hmmm....maybe I have to make something yummy like that this year!

Please join me in welcoming back the talented Beulah Bee as our guest designer for the month of July - it's great to have you with us this month, Beulah!

I jumped right in to the Red, White and Blue theme by using the Sweet Freedom paper pack to die cut all my buildings and cars and plane. I also used it to create the background for the tag.

Once I had die cut the images I wanted and pieced them together, I tried laying everything out on the tag to get an idea of what I wanted to create. For some reason, this part really took me a long time as I just wasn't sure how I could pull all of the elements together. As you can see too, it doesn't match up with the final tag.

I ripped and folded down the top edges of the pieces to add some dimension before I adhered them to the tag.

I added some stamped images and then toned it down a bit with the Buff paint.

Once the paint was dry, I wiped the faded jeans Distress Oxide on my craft sheet, spritzed it, and laid the top section down into it a couple of times. Then I dried that and did the same with the fired brick, repeating these steps all the way down the tag.

Time to add another layer with paint and stencils.

A bit of the detail...I will admit, I find working with these detailed die cuts a real challenge and test of my patience, but I plugged on through.
I also chose to add in some people, because no matter where you go, country or city, there are people to meet!

See the World, enjoy the journey!

  11. Wow! What a masterful job you did of creating an entire landscape. I especially like the way you made the tears folded up to look like ridges. This is a beautiful combo of all sorts of goodies that made me smile to look at.
