Hello Monday, my friends! I hope you have had a creative week and are looking forward to this week's challenge - Shimmer and Shine!
I headed to one of my art journals to create a shimmery page about adventures in India!
I started with the stencil that is included in the Stampendous Elephant Foam stamp set by Nathalie Kalbach, and the Fairy Wings Sparks paint. Ooh, love that shimmer!
A layer of Distress Oxide in peacock feather comes next...
Then, a barely there hint of elephant in Mermaid Sparkle paint. I used the brayer to roll the paint onto the foam stamp.
I wanted the elephant to show up more, so went over it again with wilted violet. And yes, once again, there is my favorite color combo - green, blue and purple!
I also wanted to create a pattern around my image on the water color paper, and the metallic inks and henna designs work great!
...a layer of distress oxide in seedless preserves over that, and if it covers the design, a quick wipe of the surface brings the metallic shimmer back.
Simon Says Stamp has a number of Laurel Burch stamps which you can check out here. This stamp I had in my stash and I thought it would work perfectly with the elephant stamps, so I stamped it on tissue wrap.
The tissue wrap works well for stamping images you want to color, especially if they will still react with water. I used the Dina Wakley scribble sticks to color the back of the tissue. Dina taught us a way to get really bright color from these by dipping them into water and then coloring with them...it has become a favorite technique!
I decided more shimmer and shine, and used the Cosmic Shimmer glue and Harvest Moon gilding flakes to go around the page.
I collaged the image onto the background I made and added the words, along with a bit of highlighting with a white pen. Then I decided to add some glitter and these neat little Moonshine Confetti bits from Simon Says Stamp. I have some treasured ornaments from India that have pieces of mirror embedded in them, which reminded me to try this.
Destination Adventure!
It's your turn now to shimmer and shine! I hope you are inspired to create something special and join us in this week's challenge!
