Hello Monday! Thanks so much for stopping by, we have a new challenge for you this week -
"It's in the Stars". All you need to do is add some stars to your project!
I decided to work with some materials I haven't pulled out for awhile - my alcohol inks! I was thinking they would be perfect for creating a night sky.
It's a Marvelous Night for a Moondance!
After all, the Moon is up there with all of those stars!
I started out with my blue alcohol inks and the blender on the yupo paper. I discovered a way to keep the tiny bubbles (they just keep growing if you don't stop them) by using the heat gun to set them at the point I wanted. I suggest have the heat gun in one hand and the blender in the other!
Next, I added the purple inks using the same methods.
Then, I took my High Dive ink and the Paper Artsy written background and stamped it onto the paper. It is very subtle.
Next step, I held the Moon Face stencil in place and dabbed the glue in with a sponge, then added the gilding flakes. Apparently the ink had enough wet from stamping that the flakes stuck there too.
I took a bit of eyelet and colored it with the distress oxide to add to the bottom.
I typed out my saying on the We R Memory Keepers typewriter and went over it with the distress oxide also.
Moon Face (Dina Wakley stencil) detail, I also went in with a graphite pencil to bring out the features.
I used the graphite around the words too.
Of course, I had to have a star, so hung one one with a pin.
I love making these little "canvasses" for my flip frame! I really need to do more.
So, what is in the stars for you this week? I hope some relaxing creative time, so you can join us in our challenge. Remember, our generous friends at Simon Says Stamp always have a $50 voucher for one lucky person!
