Flying Blue Time Machine

Welcome steampunk friends to our Winter Special at Sandee and amelie's Steampunk Challenges.  It's that time of year when our lives get super busy, so you have both November and December to create and enter out steampunk/industrial challenge.

As a Dr. Who fan, I couldn't resist making a flying blue telephone booth in space, aka TARDIS, when I came across this die. Of course, I had to show it flying through galaxies and time too, off on another adventure.  Wouldn't it be amazing to be one of the companions, and join Dr. Who on some of those wild and wacky journeys through time? Any other fans out there?

I decided to create my background with a palette knife rather than a brush for the base.

Then, I stenciled in part of a clock and a gentleman. This pretty much disappeared as I worked, so I added more in later.

This whirlpool stencil also works really well for spiral galaxies, I think.

Time to add in more colors and layers...

...and oh yes, lots of pretty mists. After all, space is full of amazing colors!

I die cut the phone booth and stamped the saying, then edged them with some bronze.

"We all have a TIME MACHINE. Some take us back, they're called MEMORIES. Some take us forward, they're called DREAMS." (Darkroom Door stamp)

I decided to add in some of the clock numbers and have them spill down the page.

I added a small clock to the phone booth.

My tribute to Dr. Who and the TARDIS!

Time machines often play a big role in the steampunk genre. I hope you've enjoyed my make and are inspired to join us for our Winter Special challenge.
Happy Holidays! Maura

  2. What a fabulous cover, love those numbers in time stencilled in the background. My Hubby would love this being a DR Who fan himself. Thank you for sharing.
