Hello Monday my lovely friends! We are back with a new challenge for you this week at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - ADD SOMETHING METALLIC. We are also showcasing the wonderful products of Brutus Monroe, so if you have some, we would love to see them in your make this week!
Happy May - this week marks a new month and a new guest designer! Please join me in welcoming Ashley May - you will enjoy her eclectic crafting style! Welcome Ashley, so happy to have you with us!
I made a fun trio of cards using the same background for this week's challenge, including this vintage Airstream card with a great message to get out there and travel! It's that time of year that many of us are thinking of doing a bit of holiday traveling. I know I am!
I started off by brushing water across my watercolor paper and standing it up. Then, I took the Aqua Pigments and ran the dropper across the paper releasing the ink to get this cool effect.
I started with the colors first and got them to the drip point that I wanted, then partially dried the paper.
Next, I went in and using a brush re-wet areas if needed, and I repeated the process of dragging the dropper of metallic inks across the paper so they would drip and run.
Detail...
Once the inks were dry on the paper, I went in with the Tangled Waves stencil and the Paper Artsy paint and randomly stenciled areas of the paper.
Details... and a bit later, I flicked on some dots of the copper ink.
I stamped several fish swimming across the card, and colored in the small ones with the Yellow Mermaid Marker, added a few bubbles, then some Nuvo drops. Last step was a bit of embossing with the Deep Sea. I added embossing ink to a bit of bubblewrap, stamped that, then added the powder. The sentiment inside the card is "fishing you a happy birthday."
For Hello Darling, I simply stamped the design, then added a few Nuvo drops of white on the flowers. The inside sentiment is "Just a card to say hello and you're amazing."
I stamped the vintage trailer and words from the Brutus Monroe Road Trip set, and went over the trailer with the Sterling pigment. Then, I embossed around the edge with Patina Oxide and Deep Sea embossing powders to finish this card.
There are so many ways to add a bit of metallic to your work, I am looking forward to seeing how you use it this week! If you have any Brutus Monroe products, we would love to see them. Our generous friends at Simon Says Stamp are offering a $50 shopping voucher to one lucky participant!
