Hello Monday and welcome friends to this week's challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - USE STENCILS! Stencils are one of my favorite tools, and I love to layer them. This week, I used them a bit differently.
I hope you are enjoying spring where you live, but here, I still have the heat on, it's raining...again, and there was snow in the mountains the other day. My daffodils are blooming and it is greening up, but I am looking for the warm sun, just like I was imagining the faces of flowers looking at the sun.
If we could see the miracle of a single flower, clearly our whole life would change. Buddha
I headed to my BIG journal, used texture paste with stencils, then let that dry. Next, I applied a layer of clear gesso over it all. After it dried, I went in with the paint.
In the working stage...
I wanted more texture at the bottom so stamped in some designs.
Then, I decided it looked too crazy so took it down a notch with whitewash.
I used the scribble sticks around the faces, and over the stems and leaves. (I used an older set called Woodcuts for the leaves). I went over the faces with a Pewter Distress crayon, then added a few petals around two of the faces, and the quote.
To give you an idea of dimension...
I had fun using my stencils in an imaginative way, turning the Moon Faces into flowers.
I look forward to seeing how you use stencils this week! Come join in the fun, and one lucky participant will be drawn at random to win a $50 shopping voucher from our generous friends at Simon Says Stamp!

Gorgeous journal pages Maura, the flowers are fabulous and I love the colours and textures. This has a 'Van Gogh' look I think, especially the swirly sky, the whole design is awesome! :-)
