Hello Monday my friends! I hope today finds you, and your families and friends in good health in these very trying times around the globe. My most sincere wishes for your continued health!
I decided to keep things simple this week for my project for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. I pulled out an art journal and a few materials, with the idea of working in some spring colors. I thought it would be fun to experiment with a dark background with a few Simon Says stencils.
Together we keep kindness near
I started by scribbling some oil pastels into the stencil.
a bit more green...then a spritz of water
Wipe the stencil off a bit and work some color into the paper...
Here is the side that I worked the color into...
...and the side I turned the stencil upside down and pressed it in, like a ghost print.
I tried doing something similar with the Flora stencil, but it didn't work as well.
Then, I rubbed white and pink pastels through the Peony stencil and smudged it with my finger.
I added in a bit more color with some colored pencils, splattered a bit of gold onto the pages, and added my Big Chat words. I went around them lightly with a Posca pen, so they would stand out a bit more.
I liked how some flowers picked up a bit of the yellow and orange from the background, so added a bit more into the flowers.
Details...
May we all be kind to one another in these difficult times, and help each other when needed.
Art and being creative is great therapy in times of stress, and as many of us have to spend more time at home, why not pull out some of your art materials and stencils and play along with us this week. One participant will be chosen at random for a $50 shopping voucher from our generous friends at Simon Says Stamp!
