Create Your Own Background

Hello Monday my friends! Welcome to a new challenge with us at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - MAKE YOUR OWN BACKGROUND. I love to do this, as you can use any color and texture to create your own unique piece. I even explored PINK this time!

UPDATE: THRILLED TO BE CHOSEN AS A SPLITCOASTSTAMPER FAVORITE FOR THE WEEK OF JUNE 6 FOR MY ART JOURNAL PAGE!!! THANK YOU FOR THE HONOR!!!

We are showcasing Paper Rose, a company from Australia, so if you have any Paper Rose products in your stash, we would love to see them!

I am super excited to introduce you to Sandra Rupp, our guest designer this month!! She is one amazing mixed media artist, and I know you will love her work as much as I do. Sandra, I am thrilled to be working alongside of you - welcome!!!

DWELL IN POSSIBILITY

There is nothing quite like the bond of friendship between women. I am doing my best to stay in touch with friends, but I can't wait until we can truly get together again, give each other hugs, and catch up... like these lovely friends.

As I went through my pack of Paper Rose Grunge Texture paper, trying to decide which one to use, I thought why not choose a color I don't work with very much...like PINK!
I added texture with two stencils and glossy texture paste.

Now comes the fun part, mixing and blending colors, where I surprised myself by blending in Olive with pinks. But it works!

Now to blend in some Peacock. I usually use cosmetic sponges to blend my paints, and sometimes blend further with a baby wipe.

I added some more to the circular area with the Hud stencil and Rosy paint. I like a bit of shimmer and metallic.

Let's go for more pink with Are You Cerise Infusion. I spritzed around the circle area with my water mister, then sprinkled on the powder, blended a bit more, and dried it with my heat tool.

As I was edging the piece, I decided to go over some of the textured areas with the black ink also.

Time to add in the paper dolls, gears, butterfly and words.

I glued my paper into the Dina Wakley Media Journal, and like how it looks against the burlap.
And here we have...two friends dwelling in possibility.

I hope you've enjoyed this journey through the creation of my art journal page and are inspired to join us in this week's challenge! Our super generous friends at Simon are sharing a $25 shopping voucher to one participant chosen at random.
