Simon Says: Add a Quote
Hello Monday my friends! Welcome to this week's challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - ADD A QUOTE. I was recently visiting with my sister and our big art project was to each make a set of mixed media yoga/meditation cards.
It has been wonderful having Autumn Clark of SewPaperPaint with us again this month! She is such a talented maker!! I am always looking forward to seeing your latest creation. It's been great to working with you, Autumn.
It was great fun to teach my mixed media process to my sister, and make our set of cards. We started with a large sheet of good watercolor paper and a layer of colors which we painted on both sides. As I reminded her, don't worry about the what it looks like, it is only the first layer.
Then we added more layers and textures with stencils and paint. For our project, I pulled out all the stamps and stencils I had that I felt fit our theme. Gwen Lafleur/Paper Artsy, Rachel Greig/Darkroom Door, Stamperia, Stencil Girl, Visible Image, and so many more have some wonderful stamps and stencils that are perfect for this project - check them out at Simon.
Once the base layers were done, we used a ruler to "rip" the sheet into cards, and worked on the details of each one. I pulled a lot of papers out of my stash made (gel prints), and these were great for stamping images onto, to adhere to the card.
Sampling of the cards with images and quotes that I think work with yoga and meditation.
Exhale, let go
Quiet the mind
Details from the cards...I added touches with gold and white pens, some metallic fibers, and gold foil.
I also painted and stenciled, then sewed a pouch to hold the set of cards. I've just looped some sari ribbon around it to keep it closed. This makes a lovely gift.
If you are interested in seeing the entire process, I have a link in my Tutorials HERE.
A great place to shop!!
