The Texture of Family

 

 

 Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the Something New  Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is: ADD SOME TEXTURE

I came across this family photo (a favorite) from a family walk, back when our pup was still with us. One of our favorite hikes was a park at the local lake.  I'll call this a hybrid art journal/scrapbook page.  

I began by mixing texture paste and Infusions. I scraped this through a stencil with a palette knife, adding different colors in different areas. Be sure to clean your stencil right away. 

You can see on the right side of the page where I had to overlap another section of the stencil. I wasn't too h=wooried, because I was putting things over the page.  

I matted the photo and went through my stash of embellishments looking for the perfect bits.  

I focused on a combination of nature embellishments and gauges, covering some of our interests. That's our Jack Russell, Jasper, who blessed our lives for many years.

I thought Listen to your heart was perfect for our family photo. 

I've been on a mushroom kick lately, so had to add some. The button looked like my dog  It was fun layering up the embellishments.

I love how we are all peeking into this photo, it's a great memory. The textures of family, as well as physical textures of the page come together.
