Fur or Feathers?

Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  Not a Card  Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

It's been great having Cassie Lynch aka mk_knits, back with us as our guest designer. She has such a unique style of distress and layering, and her makes have been amazing! Thanks for joining us Cassie!

This week the challenge is:     FUR OR FEATHERS?

FUR of course!! My grands are all fur babies, including my sweet little Rowan pictured above! When I saw these fox stamps from Lesia Zgharda, they reminded me of Rowan, so I knew I wanted to play with them.

 You see the resemblance, right??
Rowan might balk at getting dressed in ski clothes, but not Mr. Foxy!

 Ok, now for the project...
I created three ATC's using Lesia's stamps, Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink and colored the images with Tombow Markers and a water brush.

Meanwhile, I cut and ripped papers from Pink & Main that I had in my stash (Beach Babe) and adhered them to the ATC.

Next step was to cover the paper with clear gesso. Once that dried, I rubbed on white acrylic paint, then wiped it back with a baby wipe to reveal some of the patterned papers.

While that was drying, I fussy cut my fox images out with Simon's Fine Detail Scissors.

I popped the images onto the backgrounds, and added words from Tim Holtz's Big Chat stickers.  I love to get together for coffee with a girlfriend!

Mr Foxy is definitely looking good as he heads to the slopes...

I added a bit of glitter to each with Wink of Stella. The goggles have a bit of shine here. Often my simple wish is for a hot cuppa. It's a stop we make after our workout at the Y some days, especially if it's cold outside.

I'm also an Auntie to Miss Bella...

And was a Mom to my sweet little Jasper...boy, do I miss him!

And I have two more grand fur babies...Rose and Phoenix, the often elusive cats.
So, I am definitely a FUR over feathers type of gal!

Foxy ATC's

Heading out to the slopes or relaxing in the lodge with a hot cuppa, our foxy trio is ready to play!

It's a Wrap!

Hello Monday, my friends! So happy to have you here to tell you about our brand new challenge for this week at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - It's a Wrap! We are making all kinds of giftie things like tags, wrapping paper, gift bags, etc.

I pulled out some blank gift bags I had in my stash, and had a lot of fun creating these mixed media designs for them!

I tore some strips of paper to get started and adhered them with collage medium - Beach Babe and old book paper.

Next up, a fun mix of colors brushed on over this. I wiped it back a bit with a baby wipe.

I find myself reaching for Simon's Irregular Dots stencil all the time, it really is a fun pattern to use.

Once the cheddar circles dried, I laid on the Jazz Dance circles with umber. I like to use a cosmetic sponge to dab in the paint, after I have dabbed a lot of it off first.

Then, I added the tree stencil, making the bottom green (as most of the trees are at the moment), then turning it upside down and going for red and orange. (some of the leaves are beginning to change)

I couldn't resist pulling out some bubble wrap and adding another lightly layered design to this.

details of the layers....

I added a bit of stamping, colored areas in with watercolor, then a white pen.

...and here's my chirpy bird gift bag - enjoy the little things.

First layer on the white bag was the funky patterned paper, then this bright mix of colors. When it gets too bright, I lightly whitewash it.

Here come those dots again! I overlaid the dots with different colors to create some depth to the design.

details...

I added a stamped layer of images, then whitewashed most of the design. Once it dried, I added a bit of highlighting with the white pen.

Cheery circles bag - enjoy the little things!

Now it's your turn to create a wrap or something to go with it! I'm looking forward to seeing your ideas! Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope I've inspired you.
One lucky participant will be chosen at random to receive a $50 shopping voucher from our generous friends at Simon Says Stamp!
