Wedding/Anniversary

Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  Tag It Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

It's been wonderful having Estelle with us this month! Thanks for sharing your amazing creativity!

This week the challenge is: WEDDING/ANNIVERSARY

Follow Your Heart

I started the background with the grunge stamp and gray ink for a neutral layer.

I stamped the flower and cut it out.

I laid out the images for the bottom layer, and finally came up with a pleasing arrangement.

Adding details like a rub on butterfly...

Happy pups stamped on a tag...

Follow your heart on a thin strip of watercolor paper...

Put it all together, and voila! I think this will be perfect as a wedding or anniversary card for dog lovers.

Simon Says: Let's Art Journal

Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  Beautiful Blooms Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is: LET'S ART JOURANL

Art journaling is always interesting. You start with an idea and have a plan, then in the midst of creating, you take a whole new direction. That's what happened to me this week. I was all set to create a very colorful background over the black and white. Instead, once I added in the grid stencil, it pulled it together so well, I decided to stay with black and white and add colorful stamped images instead.

HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW?

I began by collaging printed tissue onto the journal pages. Next, I went in with the grid stencil and black ink. The stenciling really pulled the pages together with some unity.

While those pages dried, I stamped flowers and ferns on book paper I had painted in bright colors from my stash. Then, I cut out the images to layer onto my pages.

I layered my bright flowers and ferns onto both pages.

Here you can see the text coming through.

I added more detail with white, and added a few dimensional butterflies. It's always a beautiful sight to see butterflies in the garden!

Details...

My final step was to hand letter "How does your garden grow?", then add it across the pages. I have art journals of all shapes and sizes, and it was fun to work in a long landscape format here.

 How does your garden grow?

Personally, mine is having a hard time emerging from all the winter snow.

Simon Says: Make Your Own Background

Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  WHATEVER THE WEATHER   Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

Since this is the beginning of the month, we are showcasing the beautiful products from Tracy Evans. I love her focus on nature.

Please join me in welcoming our guest artist this month - Simona Rebecchi. You might also recognize her as "Ginny and the Sheep". Welcome back Simona!

This week the challenge is:MAKE YOUR OWN BACKGROUND

I made two bookmark tags this week. I just finished listening to the book "Beware of Chicken" which was recommended by a friend, then I in turn recommended it to my son. It was such a fun book to listen to! One of the main characters is a chicken, well, rooster, actually. And yes, there is a kitten in it too. This is where some stamps from Tracy Evans sparked my imagination!

I began by wiping on some brown paint with a baby wipe, then spritzing with water and lifting some.

Next up, a stencil layer with turquoise paint.

Let's build another layerewith a stamp.

Then, I toned down some stash paper with ground espresso ink. I stamped my words, and added the cat peering over them.

Time for some white splatter!

I stamped the chicken, spritzed with distress micas sprays, added a bit of orange with a scribble stick, then fussy cut them out. Once glues on, I went around them with a black pen and more orange. Final step was to do the hearts in white. Maybe the chickens would stand out more if I had left them in black, but the book talks about his beautiful, glossy feathers.

I took apart a bit of string and tied it on to the tag/bookmars.

Closeup detail of my own background...

Two lovely bookmark tags to give away. I love when I find art inspo in books!
