I Scream for...

Hello Monday! I must say, Mondays are starting to become my favorite day of the week, because it's time for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!  Ice cream to indigo blue stamps, and ink to ice resin – this week the letter " i" is our inspiration! How will you be inspired this week?

I was inspired to upcycle my iPhone box into a treasure box with a Steampunk twist! I had this from my old phone and it was such a sturdy box, I saved it. I just removed the "guts" and it was ready to use.

I wanted a metallic look for the box, and played with a number of colors to create the look I wanted. I  added texture with my fingers...yes, a messy proposition, but it worked great! I will share that it took a couple of days of washing to get it all off! This was definitely a project to teach me patience. It took a long time for the paint to dry.

I knew I wanted a few gears on the inside of the box for interest...and they also covered up an uneven spot.

With that lovely metallic sheen to the box, it just called out steampunk to me! Time to dig through my  metal embellishments...a rusty key, gears, clock, pen nib, words...work on the placement, and done!

What a fun little treasure box. This will make a great gift for someone! I am really glad I held on to that box. I was inspired this week to transform my iPhone box, and I am curious to see how you will look at the letter "i" for your inspiration.

Time to get painty, inky, or?... and and join us in the fun!  A random winner is chosen every week to win a $50 spending spree from SimonSaysStamp!

  7. Beautiful box! You are such a clever woman! Those boxes are good and sturdy. I saved mine, too. But mine is naked and this, on the other hand, is fabulous!

  8. Way to make the iPhone box better than it's ever looked before! And I also really liked how you mixed pastels in with the steampunk look you were going for. I don't typically see sherbet-y colors along with the metallic look, so I thought that was really clever and created a brilliant effect!
