Steampunk Santa

It all began with a catalog in the mail...

...and my imagination just took over! Sandee and amelie's Steampunk Challenges are having an "Anything Goes" winter special challenge, so I knew I wanted to use this image in whatever I was going to make for this.

Ok, time to start, so mounted the image on some card stock to cut it out - gives it a bit more heft. Gather some materials together to play with. I found this great textured fabric paper in my stash, and thought this would make an awesome background with some sprays and paints.

I tried out a new medium for the first time, well actually two, and I love them. They are both Viva products from Simon Says Stamp. The Inka Gold is a beeswax and metallic paint which I just wiped on in areas, and used to highlight the north pole. The other is a Paper Pen (copper) - worked great to outline and add drops. Oh, yes, I like these!

Oh yeah, loving that background!

Figuring out placement of my elements...

Closeups of details on my project with lots of gears, cogs, glitter and gadgets...

I just love this Santa face! He looks like he is having fun, and of course he is, because he just arrived from the North Pole in a hot air balloon.

He is such a jolly old soul, I am sure you will catch a glimpse of him if you look and listen carefully on Christmas Eve!
May Steampunk Santa bring you many blessings and fulfill your wishes for Christmas and the new year!
