Bird Crazy Embossed Tags

Welcome back to Monday, friends and a brand new challenge! It's a big birthday month in my family, so I made a fun tag trio party decoration.

Our challenge this week is to emboss it! I went through my stash and found an embossing folder to use, a really old one I had from Sizzix, but I really liked the pattern.

I pulled out my Paper Artsy paints and squirted some down and mixed it around a bit on the right hand tag, then I laid the middle tag on top of that and rubbed them together, and finally the one on the left - plenty of paint to do all three!

My friend Tiffany gave me this awesome piece - I don't even know what it is, but I love the texture, so stamped over the tags with the blue to make these interference patterns.

Then, I embossed the tags and used a distress crayon on each one to bring out the design. I just rubbed it over the design and then rubbed areas in with my fingers.

I decided I needed to tone it down a bit so my birds would stand out, so did a bit of whitewashing.

Stamped the crazy birds  and garden flowers on watercolor paper, then painted them with the Paper Artsy Chalk Paints, and also worked in some more Distress Crayons. Next step - fussy cutting.

I attached the tags together into a trio with some tape on the back and pretty Echo Park washi tape on the front. Each tag gets a birthday bird and balloon and hand dyed ribbon.

The crazy birds look so cute with their glittery party hat flowers, but I'm not sure if they look happy!

So, we are ready to make some happy memories at my house this month with birthday celebrations!

So, what will you emboss? Any type of embossing will do! I look forward to seeing your creation and hope you join us in the challenge! Remember, one lucky participant wins a generous $50 gift certificate from Simon Says Stamp!

  1. Oh my gosh, your partying birds triptych is so fun! I love the flowers as hats. I still haven't caved and picked up the birds (mainly because I know I'd then want the accessories and the dies -- oh, my!) but they are so whimsical and unique. Happy Monday and hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day with your tall family. :-)

    1. Thanks Laura! Had a great Mother's Day with my TALL family - I am such a shortie! But, I usually can find someone to reach the high places I can't. I hear you with the birds - and I do have the accessories too :) Hope you had a great Mother's Day too! Maura

  2. The crazy birds stamps seem to stimulate creativity and your tags clearly demonstrate that. The flowery hats are hysterical - what a wildly creative use of the flower. Like Laura said - that is so much fun. You have to smile when you see your tags. Thank you.
