What does your garden say about you?

Ahh, summer is upon us at last, and that means the gardens are blooming and growing! Today's challenge is right in step with this - Summer Garden, and we are celebrating the wonderful Paper Artsy company and showcasing their products this week!

Please help me in warmly welcoming our June guest designer, Alison Bomber! I am sure you will be amazed by her creative spirit as much as I am.

So, how does your garden grow? and what does it tell about you? My gardens would say I love color, I like to get a little wild, I kind of let things take care of themselves...in other words, not a great weeder until I absolutely have to, and I  like to provide a home to the wild ones.

I knew I wanted to work in my big Dylusions art journal for this one.

I started with a nice light background in yellow, blue and green Paper Artsy paints, and flicked some water on it to get the spots.

I took the leafy media stencil and a baby wipe and wiped off some of the paint before it dried to get this lovely design.

Next up, the Jofy stencil and some texture paste to add the plants across the bottom.

I painted the stems and splattered some more of the Inky Pool paint.

Now the fun begins with more stencils and stamps and paints! Love these chalk finish paints by Paper Artsy!!

Here you can see more of the white stamped image from a Paper Artsy Hot Pick set.

I decided I wanted my plants to stand out more, so sketched around them with a water soluble graphite pencil and went over them with a wet brush. They are certainly more bold in appearance now.

I thought this was the perfect saying to use when I found it, and hand lettered it onto the page. I also decided to put a dot of white on the pink flowers for a bit more detail.

details, details...

I truly love this time of the year, when we can finally get out into the gardens and get everything planted, as well as watch other gardens come back to life. It truly is magical!

It was delightful using my Paper Artsy paints, stamps and stencils for this project! I hope your gardens are in full bloom, getting planted, or you are even just enjoying someone else's garden. I hope you get inspired with our summer garden theme and join us in this week's challenge! We would love to see you use Paper Artsy products, but even if you don't, join us in our garden party and you might win the $50 voucher from Simon Says Stamp!

  5. Came over from Simon to say how much I enjoy this project. Right now, my garden says it's been raining so much that no one's been out to keep up with the weeding. Here's to summer, gardening and eradicating those ever-present weeds!

  9. Uh-oh! While I absolutely adore this piece (those colors are so dreamy), the sentiment made me hang my head in shame! If this is true, then I am a weedy mess. :) But I definitely did love the quote and it's accurate for all of those sweet and beautiful friends of mine who do have incredible gardens!

    1. I can't have you hanging your head in shame, Andrea! ;) Believe me, my gardens are often more on the wild and weedy side! If my son didn't help me, I might disappear into the weedy jungle! LOL!

  10. This is fantastic Maura!! I love you garden and the sentiment is such fun - although in my case, it might apply more to my craft room than to the garden. :) Lovely colours and textures!

    1. I think that might apply to me also with the "craft room" ...but maybe I better clean up first!
