If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Me, I would love to go just about anywhere...there is so much to see and experience and learn! I was lucky to take a trip to France with my sister last year and we spent some time in Paris, so that is my inspiration for my canvas.
We are all about traveling the world this week with our challenge. Summer is a great time to travel and there are so many places to go, and lots of stamps and papers and embellishments all geared to travel. You might be on a world tour, or you might be traveling into your own backyard for an adventure...whatever it is, why don't you join us in our travel challenge?
A couple more Paris photos to set the mood...
And now for my project...a 6x6 canvas celebrating my trip to Paris. Of course, the Eiffel Tower was at the top of my to see list!
I started the canvas with my harlequin stencil and some texture paste. While that was drying, I painted and then stamped on the plain tissue wrap from Tim Holtz. Next, I added paint to the top and took my mister and sprayed to get it to drip down - love this effect!
I stenciled in a couple of travel words, Wander I wiped the paint away with a baby wipe, and Explore is done with ink. Then I took several distress crayons and scribbled up and down, then used my wet paintbrush to blend them in.
I decided to go in with the stencil and baby wipe again to create more texture in the background.
Time to collage on my stamped elements with collage medium. Love the Eiffel Tower collage stamp, and the Paris cityscape, they are both perfect for this!
I decided to go for a more vintage look so added in the vintage collage medium over the whole canvas. Next I added some of Tim's tissue tape with french words on it around the edges, followed by this little cluster of elements. There is a tiny wood tower that I added some hand dyed ribbon to in the cluster, as well as the canvas flour de lis, a bit of metal, flowers and the filmstrip (an old one by BoBunny).
I couldn't resist adding my little Eiffel Tower clip into this shot. Working on my canvas brought back lovely memories of my trip to Paris!
Time for you to get out all of your crafty traveling things and create something fun to share with us over at the challenge! Simon always gives a $50 voucher to one lucky winner, and it could be you! Hope to see you there!

ReplyDeleteWow, wow, wow! I can certainly see how Paris could inspire! And of course, YOU are the person who was able to turn that inspiration into a really stunning piece of art. I love the background colors and how you blended them and let them do their own drippy thing. And the detail of the filmstrip piece over the scrabble letters was BRILLIANT. Will have to steal that idea for sure! And thanks so much for sharing some photos from your trip, which were another treat for the eyes!
