Hello friends! It's Monday again, and you know what that means - a new challenge at Simon Says Stamp! We are into stitching and sewing this week, and there are so many ways you could work this into a project to share with us! You can get out your sewing machine...or not, it's all up to your interpretation!
I got into the fun of creating my sewing themed flip frame, I just kept playing and didn't take photos along the way, but not to worry, I have plenty I took at the end! I started with this Tim Holtz Vogue stamp and cut it out with Simon's Stitched Oval frame.
I was inspired to go in a fashionista direction, because my sister Eileen recently had some hand woven and designed pieces of clothing she created, entered into a fashion show. She was always the sewer in the family and I remember her winning prizes at the county fair. She is probably also the only one of us who would have tried to sew a Vogue pattern, I never got past Simplicity.
I went for simplicity with color, only using turquoise and vintage photo to create an antique look. The ladies are painted with Dylusions spray ink and a brush, the lighter color just has some water added.
I dug into my stash to find some old buttons, bobbins, lace, clothespins and a hanger to create my cluster at the base. I wound old thread and ribbon around the bobbins.
Lots of dimension and layers here! I am liking my simple color palette.
I hope I have inspired you with my home decor piece to join us in our challenge this week. I can't wait to see what you stitch up!
