Hello Monday! Welcome my friends to the crafting that never ends...and now, it's time for some trick or treating! The challenge this week over at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is to make a treat bag or box. I took it a step further and made a trick or treat mini mason jar!
I knew I wanted to make something with Tim Holtz's new mini mason jars and photo clip, 'cause they are just so darn cute! So, how about a haunted pumpkin cat?
I wanted to give the cap and photo clip a rusty look, and Finnabair's Rust Pastes worked beautifully to do that. I started with the darkest, then the yellow, and topped my rusty layers with the orange paste...so cool!
I love how vivid the Fresh Lime Dylusions is, and just dipped in my brush and painted the areas of the stamped images where I wanted it to go.
I also found some cheesecloth and cut off a strip to dye with the fresh lime.
After these photos, I started playing and putting it all together and plain forgot to take more pictures. So, I 'll just share a bunch showing the details.
To create my Mr. Pumpkin Cat, I used Tim Holtz's Imaginary stamp (no face) and an older Impression Obsession stamp I had with this cat-faced pumpkin. Then, a few details were added like the crow, 31, eye, glitter, etc.
I tied twine and cheesecloth around the clip pole, inked up my "boo" alpha dice, added some bones, and lucky for me, a friend had just given me a bag of Halloween goodies, like the rat and spider to add.
I couldn't just leave the back blank, so added in the cat and pumpkin from the Curiosities ephemera pack, along with the skull.
Of course, I had to fill the jar, so I picked up not one, but two bags of candy corn...I know it will disappear quickly in my house!
TRICK OR TREAT!
Halloween certainly is a time of the year that allows us to free our imaginations. I hope you will free yours and create a treat tag or box to share with us and help us celebrate the Halloween season! As always, Simon Says Stamp offers a very generous $50 voucher to one lucky participant!
