Lollipop, Lollipop!

It's Monday, my friends and you know that means a new challenge at Simon Says Stamp! This week's challenge is FOOD and/or DRINK. I started off with lots of ideas in my head, and then out of the blue came this one!

It's been wonderful having Beulah Bee and her amazing creativity with us again this month! I'm so happy she could join us and we will miss her.

I headed off to my art journal singing "lollipop, lollipop, lolli, lolli, lollipop" as I got to work! Hmmm, are lollipops food? ah, that is the question...

I went to a junk page in my journal where I'd brushed off extra paint from something else I was working on in the past.

I added some happy pink dots with Simon's stencil.

Then, I toned it all down into a background with some paint.

Back to adding in more circles/bubbles with Simon's mask and Distress Oxide. Once finished, I misted it with water and dried it.

Time to add my lollipop shapes with Donna Downey's Dandelion stencil and some dark paint.

Next, I used the stencil and traced over each one onto the plaids and cut them out. I used PPA to glue them in place.

I wanted them to look more like fancy lollipops, so using Simon's pinwheel stencil and distress inks, added this layer in.

Time to stamp my words onto the page. As you can see, several of the letters need to be used more than once, so I stamped part of the word, then went in and added needed letters.

I decided to doodle around my "lollipops" with white pen to make them pop, and add in some fun paper dolls from Tim Holtz. Definitely giant size lollipops!

I added a touch of pink distress oxide to the ballerina. I also framed the page using on of Seth Apter's border lines stamps with Simon's High Dive ink.

Welcome to the lollipop land!

Food and Drink opens a veritable feast of creative opportunity, so please join us in this week's challenge! I'm looking forward to your ideas. One participant will win a $50 gift certificate to shop at Simon's store, and several will be spotlighted!

  12. This is such fun Maura! I love the addition of the kids on top of the lollipops! I'll be singing that song for the rest of the evening now. I loved that song when hearing it as a kid in the Stand By Me movie.
