The Illusion of Time

Hello dear Steampunk friends! I feel like it has been a long time...I hope everyone had a wonderful summer and you found some creative time for yourself!

I decided to make a pair of ATC's this month with the theme of time...Synchronicity and Greenwich Mean Time. I came across these stamps which I've had in my stash for years, and have added some fabulous Boozybear chipboard pieces to add more of a steampunk twist.

One definition of Synchronicity: happening, existing, or arising at precisely the same time. If we think about Steampunk, does this not fit? I think about it as existing in an alternate "world" at the same time as the Victorian era. The first known use of Greenwich Mean Time is 1863, from which we now measure time...again, during the Victorian era, so it could definitely fit into the Steampunk Universe! What do you think?

I started my ATC's with mat board and stamped these images onto them.

Next step, adding in some DecoArt fluid acrylics using Prussian Blue Hue, Cobalt Teal Hue, Green Gold, and Quinacridone Gold.

I took the boozybear clock and gears and rubbed on the Copper Kettle Metallic, then dabbed on some Payne's Grey and Prussian Blue. I also sprayed on a bit of Carbon Black, aiming for a metallic but rusty look.

I stamped the time images on tissue paper, and collaged them on top as well as rubbing a bit of color over them.

Materials used:

I added the chipboard over the images, and found some watch parts, key, dragonfly, etc. to also add on.

I hope you've enjoyed my steampunk style ATC's, and now it's your turn to create something amazing to share with us at SASPC!

Thanks so much to our sponsors who keep the gears turning!
