Hello Monday my friends! I hope you had a lovely week and are ready for our new challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Tape it Up! We are showcasing Jane Davenport products this week, and would love to see them if you have any!
The lovely and talented Anne Redfern is back with us this month as our Guest Designer - welcome back Anne!
I've been getting inspired by all the cute little notebooks Andrea on the DT has been making, and just had to make one for myself! Can you tell my original plan was to leave a lot of white? Ha ha ha - my color muse always takes over!
I have a new technique I discovered that I love - watercolor on a gel plate! I spritz the plate with water (lightly), then drew circles of color over it. Then, I lay the paper right on top and press down. (It's hard to see since the other side of my plate is dirty)
It is always a surprise when you pull the paper up!
Then, I did a second press onto the plate after I added a bit more yellow and green.
Next step, lay different bits of Jane Davenport washi tape on my cover.
Then I decided to add a bit more color with the Mermaid Markers over the tape.
Stencil layer next with Simon's Diamond Circles and Paper Artsy paints - just lightly dab the paint through the stencil, changing its position as you change color.
I also stenciled the inside.
I stenciled on some gold, then stamped more words and design to the cover.
Some stamping on the inside...
I used the easy peasy faux sewing...
I cut paper to fit, punched holes 1 inch from either end, and threaded some hand dyed ribbon through to hold the papers.
Back cover...I also tied on a couple of beads from my stash.
Quite the explosion of color, I must say! I had a lot of fun making my little tape it up book, and hope I've inspired you to join us in this week's challenge. I look forward to seeing what you create!
Remember, our generous friends at Simon Says Stamp offer a $50 voucher to one participant chosen at random. We also love to highlight our faves!

ReplyDeleteHa, ha! Thanks for the notebook shout-out! My notebook passion should really probably be called, "Andrea can't think of anything else to make besides notebooks lately," but I do appreciate the kudos! And wow! The one you made is a stunner. I LOVE IT! If I had the courage to get my dang gelli plate out of the package, I'd definitely try this cool watercolor technique. You're always doing innovative things and I love how you're constantly inspiring others and doing fun new things in the crafting world.
