Recycle

Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  Sparkle and Shine  Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is:     RECYCLE

I think it is in the midst of the deep, frigid months of winter that we dream of spring.,,birds gathering materials for their nests, warmer days and sunshine ahead, plants emerging from the sun warmed soil...oh yes, this day will come again!

One of my favorite materials to recycle is cardboard, which is very handy with the boxes coming to the house. I don't know about you, but I do most of my shopping online, so there's lots of cardboard here to use.

I began with a piece of cardboard, ripped the edges and took off some of the paper. I brushed on layers of paint, then let it dry.

Meanwhile, I did a lot of die cutting and worked on my layout.

I layered up the pieces and adhered them to the cardboard. My hands down favorite glue for fussy bits is this one from Bearly Art. With the fine tip, I really have a lot of control where I am placing the glue.

Adding a bit of highlights...

It took me awhile to decide on the bird color, but red is such a great contrast to the greens, so I went with that. I used the pine sprig die to make a couple of branches for the bird to pick up in its beak.

I do love Seth Apter's word stamps, and "gather" is perfect for my spread.

I adhered the cardboard into an older art journal I have in my stash.
It may be bitter cold outside today while I am working on this, but Spring is coming!
