Food and Drink

Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  Things with Wings  Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is: FOOD AND/OR DRINK

I made two ATC's (artist trading cards) for this week's challenge - a coffee themed one and a tea themed. And...I couldn't resist adding the cats...

I began with some ink smooshing on illustration board...

I overstampped the background with a coordinating color.

I stamped my cup images on gel prints from my stash, and the words onto watercolor paper.. Then, I stamped the cat and Meow.

Meow, Let's get coffee soon!

I doodled a tea bag onto a gel print, fussy cut it and added a cat.

You are Brew-tea-ful!

Even the cats are going for the coffee and tea...as long as there is cream in it!

As always Simon Says Stamp will be giving away a $25 voucher to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store

It's Holiday Time!!

Hello Monday! Are you ready for our newest challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge? This week it is CHRISTMAS/WINTER HOLIDAY.

I feel like a squirrel lately, dashing around madly looking for and storing the nuts for the winter! Working on getting my Christmas cards made, and this year I decided to do several different ones - more fun for me.

I love the joy this snowman shows, and then I thought, what if the snowman believed hard enough that the giant snowflake showed up? (kind of like Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin, but with a winter twist)

Not many photos this time...lots of cranking out the dies on the Big Shot, stamping and stenciling.

I wanted to just stencil the Believe, and knowing myself, I would never just keep it to that if I didn't block off the nearby design. Tape worked great to cover it up.

Just like most snowflakes are unique, I tried to make each one just a bit different by punching out different areas of the snowflake. This really makes the  SSS Felicity Snowflake die so versatile!

Love this message from Darkroom Door in the shape of a tree!

Don't forget to stamp something fun on the envelope too!

If you believe with all your heart, all your snowman dreams will come true!

Have a wonderful holiday season!! I hope you find some time to share your Christmas and Winter Holiday creations with us!

Oh, Baby, it's Icy Outside!

Hello Monday, my friends! Winter is on its way here where I live, and this week's challenge is inspired by this icy inspiration mood board. We are also showcasing Paper Artsy products this week!

I put this together for the design team, and just love the tiny snowman my sons photographed on top of a mountain while hiking. Then there is this really cool microscopic view of snowflakes, and the ones across the bottom are taken around my house during different winter storms. I hope you will also be inspired by these, and create something with us!

We have a special guest for the month of December - Valerie Jael at Bastelmania!  One of the things I love about her website is not only the wonderful art she shares, but the gorgeous photos she takes on her adventures. Welcome, welcome Valerie!

I decided to cover a kraft Moleskine journal I had and turn it into a place to keep track of all my Christmas lists.

Time to get inky and painty!

I started out by painting my die cuts, and began with the trees.

I mixed a tiny bit of Midnight with the Matte Glaze and painted the snowy hills.

This is often the way I begin my first paint layer - squirt out a few blobs of color and then start to work it with the brush or my fingers.

...and as you can see it ended up nice and streaky.

Then, I had the brilliant idea to lay down the Frozen Fractal masks, sprinkle on some Infusions and spritz with water. I envisioned lifting them and seeing a lovely snowflake design below.

Nope! Epic FAIL! I think there might be two tiny spots where bits of the snowflake show up. Instead this just added another blue and textural layer.

So, I ended up laying the masks down and using a sponge and dabbing paint over them to get the design.

I layered up my scene on the notebook and used tape and collage medium to hold it all. After I added a final layer of collage medium, I sprinkled it all with glitter.
I just love the joyful feeling these snowmen exude!

I added a few falling snowflakes, because what would make a snowman more joyous than that?
