Coffee or Tea?

Welcome to Monday, always a good day for coffee, and your newest challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! With the popularity of coffee and tea themed stamps, die cuts, and more it was only a matter of time before we took this on as a challenge! You’re welcome to tea stain your paper, leave a coffee mark on your page, use Tim Holtz new coffee or tea stamps or dies, or be inspired by your own favorite beverage!

I do love to go out for tea with friends, but my true beverage love is coffee! It starts my day, and often ends it too, it fuels my creativity; hot or cold, coffee is my friend. Coffee with humor, what could be better? What would a little bird be crazy for on a hot summer day? Iced coffee, of course!

I have to share with you that where I ended up is not where I began with this card. How often does that happen to you?

Love my black Ranger archival ink to get a crisp image of my Tim Holtz coffee cup, perfect to use with Peerless watercolors. Now that is all fine and good, but I did discover that the colors I originally chose were so bright, I felt they detracted from the coffee cup design, so back to the coloring board I went.

I colored the bird image and really liked those colors, so went back in and redid the coffee. Ah, yes...I like this much better. I stamped and colored several parts of the image so I could do some layering.

Layered up the background, edged the papers with Twisted Citron, cut out my images, and made a "tree branch" with some ribbon I had dyed a while back. At first, I had the word, coffee, in the white space below the branch, but to me, there was too much white space, so I mounted it and added another layer.

I often find when I am creating, that my work is always "in progress" and I change things up as I go, and often end up in a different place from what I first saw in my mind. This process can often lead to some wonderful little discoveries, such as the new colors I went with in this card.

So go get yourself a cup of coffee or tea, and enjoy all the wonderful takes on the theme that the design team created! Get inspired, and come back and share your creation with us.

  2. This is such a great take on the challenge! I love how you arranged the elements to create such a fun little scene. The bird looks like it is ready to get the party started now that it's had a coffee buzz, so thanks for such a whimsically wonderful creation!
