Planting Mugs

Welcome friends! I am so glad you stopped by while hopping through all the coffee, tea, and cocoa creative goodness. I never imagined there were so many awesome ways to share our love of the brew!

Awhile ago on the Facebook Group we were chatting about our excess of mugs and what we do with them. I had mentioned in my house, whenever we come home with a new mug, my son insists we get rid of two old ones - not a bad thing to do since the cupboards are bursting with mugs, it seems. So the idea we came up with was to repurpose the mugs! I do love the idea of filling the mug with a little plant and giving it away as a gift, so that is what inspired today's card!

I used Tim Holtz's Cuppa Joe sketch stamp and a new release from Simon Says Stamp Reason to Smile collection - Spring Flowers. A bit of watercolor, paint spattering and fussy cutting and my card is done. I think this might be my favorite one I made for the hop!

Blog candy giveaway for the hop, details can be found here.

  8. Gorgeous card, love how you incorporated a flower into the mug and that is something I would not have thought of doing lol!
Using purple and rust was definitely not my idea and definitely out of my colour comfort zone lol! I decided to be brave and take part in the challenge at Vintage Journey: it's my first time playing there. I wouldn't have used rust as I have an unnatural aversion to using brown in my projects, however, I learnt a lot and I actually love those little rusty spots, lol! My mixed media journey continues, thank you for the lovely comments Karen x
