Shine Bright Like a Diamond with Tim Holtz!

Happy Monday friends! We have a brand new challenge for you at Simon Says Stamp, where we are shining bright like a diamond, and celebrating the wonderfully creative Tim Holtz! If you have Tim products, we would love to see them in your shining creations.

We have a special treat for you this month - The Artful Maven Haven herself is with us this month - please welcome Anita Houston! I have been following Anita for a long time, and she is such a creative person, I know you will enjoy her creations this month!

Now, when I starting thinking about shining bright like a diamond, I immediately thought of my new Tim Holtz Snow Globe and lots of glitter.

I started by cranking up my Big Shot and cutting all the die pieces using watercolor paper, so I could color the pieces individually.  I used one of my favorite techniques I learned from Tim - inking up the paper, then flicking some water drops on it.

I used Distress Crayons on the base of the globe and used the water brush to blend the colors.

I thought I would have a little fun with the base, and went in with the Dot Fade stencil and my distress crayon to randomly fill in some of the dots, then used my heat gun to create a 3D effect.

Next up, time to color all the snow globe pieces with the distress inks. Purple Mountains, for example.

With all of my pieces colored, it's time to build the globe and lay everything into place, and get it ready for the glitter.

I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to make, I started thinking I would turn this into a tree ornament, but somewhere along the way, I changed my mind. I decided to turn it into a home decor piece that could be hung on the wall.
I simply took corrugated cardboard I had on hand, cut out the shapes I wanted, then painted, dabbed and blended the distress paints. I stamped some snowflakes onto the background, and added lots of glitter.

I wanted to try a two-toned Merry Christmas, which I was able to achieve by using my MISTI. I stamped in the Hickory Smoke first, then added just a touch of Candied Apple to the edges of the stamp.

I inserted some glittery baker's twine in-between the cardboard and a piece of cardstock I used to cover the back.  I thought it would be fun to add a surprised Santa!

I hope I have inspired you to join our challenge this week and shine bright like a diamond and use your Tim Holtz products! I'm looking forward to seeing what you share! Remember, Simon Says Stamp has a generous $50 voucher for one lucky participant!
