Going Masculine with Darkroom Door!

Hello Monday, my friends! This week we are showcasing a wonderful stamp company from "Down Under" - Darkroom Door! Our theme for the week is Masculine, and I took the opportunity to make a Father's Day card for my artist husband.

Please welcome Anne Redfern of Redanne this month as our guest designer! I know you are going to enjoy the beautiful work she does! Welcome Anne!!

I started off with watercolor paper, and wiped the fossilized amber and spiced marmalade onto my craft sheet, spritzed it with water and laid the paper down on it. Repeat until you get the design you want, then dry it.

Next step, I did the same with the broken china.

Then, I went in with the Harlequin stencil and walnut stain and using a mini blender, added it into random areas.

I used the MISTI to stamp my images, both on the canvas tag and the watercolor paper. I added color to the images in the same way that I did the background. I think my most difficult step was trying to figure out how I wanted to lay them out! Using a black archival pen, I doodled a bit around the diamond shapes.

I love this saying, and it fits perfectly for my artist husband, since he is always in a better mood when he is painting or drawing, LOL!

I am ready for Father's Day, just need to get the sons to sign it!

I hope you've enjoyed my masculine card, it really was quick and easy, and if you haven't tried those distress oxide inks yet, I encourage you to play with them! Please join us in the fun with this week's challenge. One lucky person will win a $50 voucher to go on a spending spree with our friends at Simon Says Stamp!

  9. The placement of the various elements is perfect (your eyes know what your heart feels). I especially admire the background--I'm struggling a bit with the oxides but beginning to think the secret may be using watercolor paper. Thanks for the step-outs!
