Welcome back creative friends! Are you ready for our second challenge of 2018?
This week our theme is WINTER BLUES.
I decided to play more with the color blue than winter, thinking about how we often get the blues around my house during the cold, dark winter months.
The winter day I worked on this art journal page, it snowed from morning until night. Luckily for us it was a very light snow, because it was so cold - brrr!
Even Chameleons Get the Blues
I pulled out some watercolor paper, my stamping platform and Simon's black dye ink, and stamped out my images with the chameleon stamp, and two stamp sets by Birgit Koopsen - "The earth has music" and "Dutch Tulips." Simon Says Stamp has some very similar stamp sets from Birgit.
I smudged my Zen hybrid cubes over the leaves and flowers.
Next, I pulled out all the blues from my Peerless watercolors, I really like using these sheets. The colors are so rich, and you can get any shade you want with the amount of water you use. They are extremely portable if you are traveling - just add a water brush and maybe a pencil.
I wanted to use a lot of shades of blue on my chameleons, so they would blend in with their environment. I tested out colors right on the paper I stamped on as you can see.
I ripped around the Dutch Tulips large image and adhered this to my art journal. The one I am using here is similar to the one I put in the supplies, but a bit different in size.
Time to layer all of my stamped images that I fussy cut. I wanted it to look like they are climbing the flowers.
You can see the glitter from my Wink of Stella pen, and some of the dimension here.
I like this saying - "The earth has music for those who listen."
I can imagine the blues that would evolve if no one listened!
I must say, I feel less "blue" now after painting this fun page with many shades of blue!
I hope I've inspired you to join us in our Winter Blues challenge - you might be thinking along the lines like I did, feeling the winter blues, or you might be looking out into that winter wonderland and seeing the many shades of blue. However you interpret it, we would love to see what you create!
