Hello Monday, my friends! We have a new challenge for you this week at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - TIME OUT. Share with us anything time related!
I know you have enjoyed our guest designer this month, Paula Roomer! be sure to stop by her blog and leave her a note. It's been wonderful having you with us this month with your awesome creations, Paula. I wish you the best, and look forward to your creative inspiration.
I headed to my big Dylusian's Art Journal for this challenge. I wanted to combine images of time, like fossils (Joggles), clocks (Visible Image), infinity (Seth's Spinner circle stencil) and build layers for my Time After Time spread from the Past to the Future.
I started with a junk page in my art journal. I often will add leftover paint, inks, or sprays to a blank page, and come back to it for a future project. I think I was using these Frozen Fractals in the winter, but they will work here too.
I started with a layer of translucent paints over the page, so the fractals would also be visible.
Next layer: Simon's Grid stencil and Guacamole which I sponged in randomly.
Now, time for Simon's Medium Dot stencil and Caribbean Sea. Again, I sponged this into random areas of the page.
I have this cute little ATC stencil, but I made it work on this large page, by sponging the design, and going back in with part of a fossil and matching it up to finish it.
Many layers of paint and images...
I needed a contrasting color, so headed to orange, and stenciled several of these Spinner unity circles on the page.
Next, I laid the stencil back down over the dry image, misted it with water, then sprinkled Infusions over the stenciled area. I added a bit more of the infusions randomly on the page.
I've left a large area open in the center for my stamped images.
Next up is stamping. Black archival ink works well, and I just hold the stamps and press them down, no need for blocks.
I decided I wanted the stamped areas to stand out more, and brushed in a bit of Terracotta paint to add some contrast. I also used a white Posca paint marker and went around areas I wanted to draw the eye to.
Falling through time from the past to the present, time after time...
