This week the challenge is:  FUN WITH PAINT

Seth Apter inspired Memorydex cards

I have had the good fortune to take classes with Seth Aoter and learn so many techniques. Seth is a wonderful teacher and shares so many ideas . .thanks for the inspiration, Seth!

Since we are having fun with paint this week, that is where I began. I used a technique I learned from Seth Apter to create my backgrounds. Apply the paint to a piece of canvas and press it onto your paper. Start with a dark or light colorl, and on th enext layer, use the opposite. For example, I began with a dark base, then went light, then dark, then light again. This will build up a wonderful grungy layer of color on your work.

Look at all that texture!

Text, I collage on some paper tissue.

Then I stencil a bit of Blue with ink onto the designs.

My final step was some stamping. I used to white China marker around the words that I stamped to make them stand out a bit more.

My three memory decks card serves decked into my holder.

Answer the cards

Facts of the cards, them so that as you're going through everything is oriented in the same direction.

And here we go a trio of grungy, earthy memorydex cards inspired by Seth Apter.

Vacation

Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  SPRITZ AND SPLATTER Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is: VACATION

Lucky me! I got to go on a cruise this spring with my sister to Mexico, Belize, and Honduras. Loving the ship life!

I spent a lot of my time sketching on our trip. My favorite place to go was there Promenade deck.  I tried to do at least one sketch a day while on the ship. I even met the captain one day!

After our cruise, we went to St. Augustine, Florida to spend time with our sister there. Truly, it was a wonderful vacation!

THis week, I decided on a hybrid art journal/scrapbook spread. I began with some stamping and stenciling.

I decided the background was a little too bold, and would detract from the photos, so I spritzed it and lifter color with a paper towel.

I printed out a few tiny pictures to use and added them to the pages.

I stamped some fun imageslllevery ship has a cat, right? I also doodled lines around the photos to pop them.

I added a couple of tags with thread.

One of my highlights was having High Tea!

A VACATION TO REMEMBER!
