Time Rift

Greetings fellow Steampunk fans! Welcome to April's inspiration for Sandee and amelie's Steampunk Challenges. I hope you will join us this month and share a steampunk/industrial creation.

Do you ever wonder how the alternate Victorian Steampunk world came about? Well, I do! I started playing with some new stamps from Stampendous and DecoArt paints, and was thinking of time fracturing, then thought of a rift in time that might have let this universe leak through.

I started by brushing some bright Neon colors onto watercolor paper, then pressed my other piece into the painted one.

Next, I added darker colors to my second sheet, and wiped it off with a baby wipe each time - Payne's Grey, Ultramarine Blue, then Phthalo Turquoise. Unexpectedly, the neon colors acted as a resist - love it!

I stamped the Clock Collage onto the neon sheet, then brushed on some Quinacridone Gold onto the clock faces.

On my darker paper I went in with darker images and words with Andy Skinner stamps. (Stampendous)

I chose a junk page in my art journal and added another paint layer to it. then stamped a bit around the edges.

I added some Rocky Road Baked Texture to the "rift" and Deep Sea to the edges of the "universe." I wanted to make the rift area more dramatic, and I think this did it.

I wanted to have some steampunk/Victorian images emerging from the time rift. I added some marks with a gold pen, and lettered my words.

Details and closeups....

I love steampunk, and hope I've inspired you to do a bit of it yourself. Please share with us on the challenge blog.

Thanks so much to our awesome sponsors who keep the gears turning at SASPC!
