Hello Monday my friends! We have a new challenge for you this week at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - TAG IT! We are showcasing Tim Holtz products this week, and he has so many amazing Halloween goodies, I just had to make something "spooktacular"!
Update:
Honored to have this chosen as a Splitcoast Favorite for the week of October 20th!
Please join me in welcoming Tenia Nelson at Jazzy Paper Designs as our guest designer for the month of October! She is one creative artist, both on paper and music! We are so happy to have you with us this month, Tenia!
THE APOTHECARY
When you start mixing up potions and lotions, you'd better be careful! Label everything you are working with or making. Don't get enticed over to the darker side of magic, or you may end up like the apothecary who stepped off the healing path.
I pulled out some old, yes, very old Distress Crackle paints to paint my background on the tombstone etcetera tag.
I waited patiently for it to crackle....then, oh heck, grab the heat gun and let's get this baby done!
Once dry, I went over it with black soot to bring out the crackle.
crackle detail...
I worked on distressing and embellishing my die cuts and words.
Layering on the skeleton, bottles, and witch, then adding in some infusions and distress spray. Looking dark and mysterious now!
I dug deep in my stash and used up some of those Halloween bits I'd been hoarding. I bet if you look, you will find some too!
Happy Halloween!
It's October and that means it's the spooky season! Tim Holtz has many wonderful products for this holiday, as well as many others. If you have your Tim stuff, we would love to see you use it on a tag, and join us this week! One lucky participant will be drawn at random to win a $50 voucher!

ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous, Maura! That texture is so rusty-dusty-perfect! And I laughed at your write-up and how you grabbed the heat gun to get the crackle going. Sound like you and I rank at the same level on the "crafting patience meter." This was a great piece and I especially liked how you combined so many different elements so effectively.
