Beautiful Blooms

Hello Monday, my friends! We have a lovely new challenge for you this week at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Beautiful Blooms! I am sure many of you are enjoying some gorgeous blooms where you live, I know I've enjoyed seeing the photos people have been sharing. Spring is slow coming here, and I am just beginning to see plant shoots coming up. I know it will be soon.

I decided to combine some stamping, painting and sewing in my Dina Wakley art journal, so headed to one of the canvas pages.

I started with the Rose Lattice background stamp, rubbed the watercolor markers over it and spritzed with water, then stamped. I repeated this with the distress oxide to get the variations in color on the canvas.

Once that dried, I stenciled the leaves onto the page, starting with the darkest green and moving to the lightest to create some depth. (Chartreuse is similar to the Key Lime)

Setting the page aside to dry, I stamped the blooms onto watercolor paper and colored them in with the mermaid markers. Once dry, I fussy cut the flowers.

I stamped some flowers from the Sketched Flowers set on the canvas, and stitched them with embroidery thread. In retrospect, I would not stamp so close to the binding next time as it was darn hard to  stitch!

I glued the blooms on and added some detail with the Nuvo drops.

I wish I had stopped here, but added the black Nuvo to both purple flowers and messed up the bottom one. I tried to fix it with some unicorn dust, but it turned out rather dark. But I do like the words I added.

Beautiful Blooms!
