Hello Monday my friends, and welcome to this week's challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - CRACK IT UP. I chose to use both crackle and humor to crack it up with my frog yoga artist trading cards.
If frog yoga doesn't make you laugh out loud, maybe the quotes that go with these stamps will catch your funny bone. Did you know there is such a thing as laughing yoga? It started in Mumbai, India, and I first tried it on my trip to India a couple of years ago...it combines yoga poses and hearty laughter - sound fun right? It was!
I'll start off by saying my first attempt at cracked backgrounds for my ATC's were one epic failure, so bad, I threw them out and started over. Yes, that happens to all of us sometimes.
I stamped the frogs and quotes on watercolor paper, and colored the frogs with Tombow markers, then blended with the water brush.
I painted the backgrounds a nice blend of darker blues, then blended the Mermaid Lagoon and Twisted Citron through the stencil. Isn't that a gorgeous stencil? I have to do more with it!
I use cosmetic sponges for blending paints, especially with stencils.
Beautiful background in blues and greens...
Here you can see the crackle, this time with big cracks. Not sure if I was impatient with it using my heat tool after awhile, or if the universe was just conspiring against me on this project.
I rubbed on Ground Espresso to bring out the cracks, and it also toned down the background.
Oh, when I assembled them, I added patterned paper to the backs, washi tape, thread, and put the frogs on the fun wobble springs.
Here's a little video to show you the "action".
Yoga and Cupcakes...
It's all about Balance!
Yep, gotta bend...
Oh yes, I do!!!
I hope you've enjoyed my frog yoga ATC's, and are inspired to join us this week in our Crack it Up challenge! Namaste...
