Grunge It Up!

Hello Monday my friends! I hope this finds you well. Our theme this week at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is GRUNGE IT UP. I mean, who doesn't love some grunge? I know I love adding grungy elements to my work, even if it is as simple as edging the piece in brown ink.

My project this week is a trio of artist trading cards, inspired by Seth Apter, who is a master of creating layers of grungy color.

I'm using a sheet of canvas paper to add paint to my cards.

Building another layer of color...

...and adding muliple color layers which creates great depth and texture.

This is what it looks like once I finished layering.

Love the awesome texture that develops.

Next step is some stamping, and I'm using Seth's stamps to add this next layer.

I added more paint again, then stamped my final bits on top.

After I added the words, It's now or never, I started thinking about the birds that have been visiting our yard this summer. I interpreted it in several ways, from - we really need to protect these beautiful creatures - to they are in a feeding frenzy before winter comes...

I added a rusty butterfly, then went over it with a bit of glaze.

Love Rust (which I do!) and Out of the Box...I guess those of us who love rusty things (just not my car) are living a bit outside of the norm, lol.

Some rusty and shiny bits with a bit of glaze...

Past, Present, Future...hidden in here is a gas pump gauge, rather telling with our fossil fuel use.

Each little artist trading card tells its own story...

Are you ready to get your grunge on? Our generous friends at Simon Says Stamp are offering a $25 shopping voucher to one of you, so start creating and join us!

A GREAT place to shop!
