Inspired by an Artist

Hello Monday my friends! Welcome back to this week's challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - INSPIRED BY AN ARTIST.

It has been wonderful to have Simona, (ginny and the sheep) with us this month, inspiring us with her gorgeous creations! Thanks for sharing with us Simona, and I will certainly be seeing you on the web!

My husband and I watched the film "At Eternity's Gate" awhile back, and when this challenge came up, I knew I wanted to focus on Vincent Van Gogh. I love how his inspiration from nature is expressed in his work, and his sunflowers are famous for that. Besides, we grew some beautiful sunflowers last summer, and Simon Says Stamp has a gorgeous sunflower stamp, so it all came together in my art journal.

I find comfort in contemplating the sunflowers
Vincent van Gogh

I started by stamping the Sunflowers Background directly on to the Media Journal. The images are not crisp due to the texture of the paper, but it works. I also stamped one of the flowers onto a sheet of watercolor paper.

Next, I used watercolors to paint the images and create a sky on the opposite page.

Once dry, I added beads of glossy accents and dots to create more texture in the center of the flowers.

On the facing page, I printed out the quote using the P-Touch, fussy cut the bloom and adhered that. I played around with the bloom to find the best place, and liked it at the top of the page.

I like how the big and bold sunflowers fill the page, and contrast with the turquoise sky.

Who is an artist that inspires you? Why not create something inspired by that person and join us this week? Our generous friends at Simon Says Stamp are offering a $25 shopping voucher to one person drawn at random. The design team shares their favorites each week too and spotlights them. So, come join the fun!

A great place to shop!!
