Mixed Media: Be You!

Hello Monday my friends! Welcome to our challenge this week at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - MIXED MEDIA. We are highlighting the wonderful array of mixed media products from Dina Wakley this week, so if you have any, we would love to see it used in your project.  I love mixed media, there is so much freedom in working in this genre. Mixed Media is just using more than one medium in your make, for example, ink + paint.

I started the tag with clear gesso and pressed some stamped designs into it to create texture.

While that dried, I spritzed Dina's Gloss Sprays on my chipboard shapes, leaving some open spaces. 

Once the sprays were dry, I brushed on some paint, then wiped it back to allow the spray to act as a resist. 

I added a layer of stamped textures next.

Then, I decided to brighten the tag with white, and used a skewer to scribble on some designs. I decided to spritz some water onto this and let it drip. 

For more interest (and another way to mix the media) I added a strip of Dina's washi tape to my tag. 

Final step was to put the pieces together. I had some hand-dyed ribbon that worked beautifully with the "model", and I thought added a bit of high fashion to her.  

On a personal note, I have gone through many fashion changes in my life, from wearing overalls and work boots, to science themed outfits to match the units I was teaching...but I finally feel at this point, I have discovered "my look." It's colorful and comfortable, and definitely me!
