I made a scrapbook album for my husband, my best friend, for Christmas. We went camping for a month together out west in the fall of 2014. Montana and Wyoming were calling us back on an adventure. We camped in a tent, even when the temperatures dropped below freezing high in the mountains.
On my must do list was to eat out at Old Faithful Lodge in Yellowstone. I wanted us to have dinner there to celebrate our anniversary. When I called to make reservations, we could get in at 9:30 pm, but there was no guarantee the road would still be open to get back to our hotel (oh yes, we did stay in hotels when it got too cold and wet). If it was closed, it was about 150 miles to go around. Well, that was disappointing, so lunch was our next best option, and it was nice!
A beautiful day is just right for some painting and picnicking.
Love these page protectors in different sizes, and it made it so much faster to scrapbook. Only thing is, it is hard to photograph in the plastic.
One of my favorite places in the world is the Beartooth Mountains. Years ago, I was on trail crew and hiked all over this area keeping the trails maintained. My partner and I would backpack out for a week with all of our camping supplies, food, and tools. Boy, was I in shape then! There is a little store up in the mountains called Top of the World that is still there, so we had to get a photo of ourselves there.
Today's post is more about the story, but isn't that what scrapbooking is all about?

ReplyDeleteBeautiful layouts Maura and such great memories to document. I like the papers that you used, and all those gorgeous photos.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic post! It was so fun to see more insight into the exciting life of Maura! Who would've thought that you have had so many outdoorsy adventures! Loved reading about them and seeing the pics. The lodge in Yellowstone reminded me of my family going to Camp 18 in Oregon every year to eat on our way to the beach. And the cafe at the "top of the world" reminded me of hiking to a tea house at the top of a mountain around Lake Louise, Canada. So see? Not only do these pages look amazing, but your words and pictures brought to mind my own stories, too. I think it's a special thing when art reminds us of our own life experiences and I thank you for bringing those happy emotions to the surface!
